ABOUT US

Mankind’s fascination with glass has existed for over four thousand years. The luminance, sparkle, shapes, forms, and broad color palette of glass help to explain its’ wide appeal. Also, glass can be strong, or fragile, clear, or opaque, and colored, or transparent. This dual nature of glass might also help to explain its popularity. As a medium, glass seems to offer the artist limitless possibilities.

After an introductory class in fused glass, Gary and Alina found their perfect artistic medium. Since that time, they have tried to communicate their artistry and imagination through fused glass.

When heated to the appropriate temperature, parts of sheet glass fuse together to create colorful and unique pieces of art. Once fused, glass can be fired again to take on various forms, including bowls and plates.

Gary’s precision and realistic approach combined with Alina’s imaginative and color-inspired technique result in a wide array of creations. Much of their inspiration comes from nature. Trees, mountains, stars and the ocean are some of the key elements in their art. They are also inspired by the works of such artists as Louis Comfort Tiffany, Frank Lloyd Wright, and Dale Chihuly.

Their art has been featured in the Seahurst Art Gallery, the Burien Arts Gallery, and the Burien Spring Art Stoll and Fall Art Walk. They are members of the Seahurst Gallery, ArtsWest Artists Association and Artists United.

Originally from Russia, Alina spent 10 years in Silverdale, WA.  Gary fell in love with Washington while stationed in Tacoma during his military career. Upon being honorably discharged from the military, he returned to Washington State. A lifelong memory for them will be their wedding ceremony at Scenic Beach State Park in October of 2004. They currently reside near Seattle.
